My "Coordinates" project is my traversal into more traditional waters.
My aim here is to create traditional landscape painting with oil paint. However, you may have noticed that there is more to these paintings than traditional methods with traditional approaches.
The project name "Coordinates" also hints at this. These landscapes I've painted are indeed real places. I find these landscapes using Google's street view app on my computer. Using this digital app, I can traverse almost any road on the planet. When travelling these roads, I search for natural landscapes to paint.
In order to visually describe the digital origins of these real world landscapes, I implement small visual "glitches" throughout the painting.
These natural landscapes, I wonder, are they indeed natural? Or are they digital? I haven't answered that question yet.
When I complete each painting, it is given a title. These paintings are titled their global location coordinates as found on Google street view.
